Collector's Story | Unbound

Inspired by conversations with collectors and the emotions these paintings evoke in the homes they inhabit.

'When I first saw Unbound, I couldn't explain why I stopped.

There were larger paintings in the room and brighter colours demanding attention, yet I found myself returning to this one again and again. It wasn't simply a wave; it felt alive. Powerful, untamed and yet strangely calming at the same time.

Standing in front of it, I was reminded of early mornings by the sea, when the air is cool and the horizon seems endless. It captured that feeling of possibility—that quiet moment before a new day begins when everything feels open and anything seems possible.

Now it hangs in our home where the light changes throughout the day, and with it the painting changes too. Some mornings it feels soft and reflective, while on stormy afternoons it seems full of movement and energy. I still find myself stopping as I walk past, noticing details I hadn't seen before.

For me, Unbound is more than a painting. It is a daily reminder that strength can be gentle, that beauty often exists within movement, and that the sea has a remarkable way of putting everything back into perspective.

It is the first thing visitors notice when they enter the room.

But more importantly, it is the last thing I look at before I leave.'
