COMMISSIONS
Only a small number of commissions are accepted each year, allowing every painting the time and attention it deserves.
A commissioned painting offers the opportunity to create an original work shaped by your connection to the sea, the atmosphere you wish to live with and the space it will inhabit.
Rather than reproducing an existing painting or working to a fixed design, I approach each commission as a personal collaboration. Through conversation, we establish an emotional and visual direction while allowing the painting to develop naturally in my own artistic language.
The result is a unique original oil painting—created for you, yet unmistakably part of my wider practice.
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
Step 1 — Initial Conversation
We begin with an informal conversation about your space, preferred scale, connection to the sea and the atmosphere you would like the painting to hold. There is no obligation to proceed.
Step 2 — Creative Direction
If the commission feels right for us both, I will propose a size, palette and broad creative direction. Once these details are agreed, a non-refundable deposit reserves your place in my studio schedule.
Step 3 — Creation
Your painting is created in layered oils in my Dorset studio. I retain artistic freedom throughout this stage, allowing the work to develop with the depth, movement and atmosphere characteristic of my practice.
Step 4 — Completion
When the painting is complete, I will share photographs with you before arranging final payment, framing where agreed and insured delivery or collection.
CREATED IN MAGDA’S ARTISTIC LANGUAGE
A commission is not an exact copy of an existing painting or a literal reproduction of a photograph.
Your memories, preferred atmosphere and space provide the starting point, while composition, mark-making and final artistic decisions remain with Magda. This balance allows the finished painting to feel personally meaningful while remaining authentic to her established practice.

FAQs
Can I choose the colours?
You may respond to the palette and atmosphere within my existing work, but I do not work to precise colour matching. Colour decisions are integral to the emotional balance of the painting.
Colours are discussed as a direction, not precisely matched.
How involved am I in the process?
We agree the scale, orientation and broad creative direction at the outset. I then work independently, without progress-stage redesigns. Once the painting is complete, I will share final photographs with you before arranging payment and delivery.
How long does a commission take?
Most commissions take between 8–12 weeks from the agreed start date. Timelines are confirmed in advance and reflect the pace required for the work.
What sizes are available?
Commissions are available in selected sizes only. This ensures the work remains consistent with my studio practice. This will be discussed in the initial consultation.
Can I request a specific painting or exact copy of an existing work?
Each commission is unique and created to stand as an original work in its own right.
Existing paintings will not be copied.
What is the payment process?
A non-refundable deposit secures your place in my commission schedule, with the balance due on completion prior to delivery.
Do you accept international commissions?
Yes. I work with collectors internationally and can arrange professional shipping.
International delivery is quoted separately.
Is a commission right for me?
Commissions suit those looking for a painting to live with over time — work that offers calm, continuity, and presence rather than immediate impact.
