Returning to the Studio

Each return to the studio carries a small reset.

Even when the work is familiar, the act of beginning again requires attention. I arrive without expectation, allowing the painting to reassert its own needs.

The studio is not a place of answers, but of sustained questioning. Over time, this repeated return builds trust — in the process, and in the work’s ability to resolve itself.

Painting continues not because everything is understood, but because attention remains possible.
