Solstice Glow

There are evenings when the sea seems to hold the sun a little longer.

The light lingers across the water, warming every ripple with soft gold and amber before slowly dissolving into the horizon. For a few fleeting moments, the world feels suspended between day and night, movement and stillness, memory and possibility.

Solstice Glow was inspired by that quiet transition.

Rather than capturing a specific coastline or sunset, the painting explores the atmosphere created when light reaches its most luminous and fleeting expression. Through delicate layers of oil paint, subtle texture and shifting colour, it invites the viewer into a moment of warmth, calm and quiet wonder that seems to exist beyond time itself.

The longest days of the year have always held a quiet fascination for me.

There is something deeply comforting about those lingering evenings when the light refuses to disappear, stretching across the sea until sky and water become almost indistinguishable. Time seems to slow, conversations become quieter and the world feels wonderfully still.

When I painted Solstice Glow, I wanted to preserve that feeling—the warmth of evening light reflected on the water and the sense that, for just a few moments, everything is exactly as it should be.

It is a painting about presence, gratitude and the quiet beauty of simply standing by the sea as the day comes gently to a close.

My hope is that Solstice Glow becomes a lasting source of warmth within the home—a painting that catches the changing light, softens the atmosphere of a room and offers a daily reminder that some of life's most beautiful moments are also its most fleeting.
