Diary of an Emerging Artist! Feb 2024

I thought the run up to my website launch in January was my busiest time- but February proved me wrong!
I have had an amazing month and I have you to thank!

The launch of my website was nerve wracking and sales were slow for the first couple of weeks- then bam!
It is probably the most rewarding part of being an artist… All of the work, emotion, time and energy that I put into each painting in the hope that I have created something beautiful… and then it sells! Which means that I get to share my work, a little piece of me, with you… it is truly humbling and an amazing feeling. a genuine and huge Thank You to you all.

I then received an email from a lovely lady who said that she loved my work and wanted to buy an original but didn’t have the capital at the moment… which got me to thinking… These are tough economical times at the moment and many of us are tightening the purse strings… but does that mean that we can’t have beautiful art work? If you have read my last blog you will know that I have a history in psychology and one of my driving forces for my art is wellbeing. Having art in your home, workspace or office has an enormous effect on our emotions and if one is struggling with money concerns then they have all the more reason to need art in their lives…. And so the Mini Series emerged. I began working on smaller pieces… these pieces would be framed and ready to hang at an affordable price and available to all. Those who want art but not the price tag can now own an original seascape for their space. And the great thing is they look great as a two or three piece too! So in my mind there is art for all!

This then spurred on my want to create triptychs… three smaller pieces in one frame- so I began to work on that too… This is still a work in progress.

I have started a new large collection too. This collection is contemporary impressionist seascapes in oils. Oils are my favourite medium to paint with. There is so much versatility and possibility with oils and the long drying time allows for adaptation and manipulation as I paint. This collection should be complete this month, March, so sign up to my newsletter to get updates and release dates.

And that was February. I can’t wait for March and all of the possibilities it will bring!
